Driving under the influence
DUI Level I & II Supervision Services

The Safety Council’s Driver Improvement curriculums are State of Florida approved and are taught by Certified Traffic Safety Instructors. Certificates of Completion are presented for documentation purposes.

These courses are designed and approved by the State of Florida for drivers who have received a Driving Under The Influence. First time offenders and those convicted of reckless driving where the court has reasonable cause to believe that alcohol or other substance abuse was involved are required to attend a 12 hour basic education course. Repeat or multiple offenders are required to attend a course that consists of 21 classroom hours. The 21 hour course includes all the components of the basic program plus special emphasis on the problems of the multiple offender. The DUI. programs provide educational services, evaluations to identify substance abuse problems, and referral services to link identified problem drinkers with local treatment resources.

Special Supervision Services are provided for drivers who have received a 5 year, 10 year, or lifetime revocation due to multiple DUIs. Should an applicant qualify and be approved for the supervision program, a recommendation for a restricted drivers' license is forwarded to Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Those restricted drivers who enter the program are monitored on a continuous basis. Individuals are required to have a hearing with the Bureau of Administrative Review (Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles) prior to consideration for acceptance into the Special Supervision Program.
